INSPERATION - IDEAS FOR COVER SHOOT

Im inspired by these pictures for my cover positions as they are diffrent, bright and vibrant and they stand out. they also include art style which i want. These will be very hard to achieve though so i have doubts if i will be able to pull something as extreme as this off without proper set and props.

PLANNING - ARTIST PROFILE

Vladana / r&b pop / Glamorous, adventurous, original, vibrant.

Vladana, a.k.a. 19-year-old -Georgia Perry Slade was born 13th March 1993 in Leicester, England to parents Linda Slade and Michael John slade, descending from spanish roots, Vladana is the youngest of two children. Her brother, Alexander i love alex Thomas Slade, an art student born 7th December. Despite having a moderativly average family, Vladama has stressed that their growing up was still not easy, stating that 'My family had alot of issues when we were younger and i guess that took tole on my younger teenage years and my inner self.'

Vladana went to her local schools growing up always favoriting music and drama lessons. She described her academic life in high school as 'Not the best time of my life'. "I didnt fit in too well with everyone, i get along better with boys than i do girls - which was not the most popular at high school" which lead to leaving after GCSE's and diving onto the pathway of her carear at BRIT School were she said she 'deffiantly found herself, it was the best time ever'.

After flying high with good grades and achieveing well at BRIT school she gets spotted by a up and coming music producer, MAC C, and straight away they start creating music and lyrics exploring the charecter of the soon to be famous 'Vladana'.

She is to be headlining at a festival as her new album is set to be released on 14th May 2012 in time for the summer rush. Between then and now she is supporting Jessie J on her tour and also rumour which are not yet confirmed of also supporting Rihanna.

Jessica will be the girl i use to be the artist for my magazine.
Vladana Pronounced "vlah-dah-nah". Means to rule with greatness, to rule with peace or to rule. I randomly found this word and thought it was a good name for a solo artist as its quirky but with meaning and alot of popular artist now change to a stage name, such as Lady Gaga, Rihana, Nicki minaj and La Roux.
In my 'Insperational Ideas for cover shoot' pictures i want to try and recreate some kind of edy, artistic look into the picture. I will do this by adding bright, bold and big makeup to abbey to give her an artistic look for the shoot. Also i am thinking about including props such as flowers, feathers, material and birds to also help achieve this look. However, achieve thing could be very difficult so i have a back up plan of being simple but effective, with strong fierce poses and facial expressions to show a mature but still young girl. Heavy make-up with dark clothing to create a edgy and different look to the usual happy poppy bright singer. These two ideas are complete contrast but I need to know what I have to work with before i make up my mind because going extreme would be brilliant, but that's if I can pull it off but then again simple and effective would also be interesting and add a different edge to my magazine still with the style I want.

RESEARCH - TARGET AUDIENCE

TARGET AUDIENCE

Abbey Brighty is a 18 year old girl wo lives in Leicester, she is studying Dance at college, Studio 79. She loves listening to the newest, funnest and most popular music before anyone eles. As a dancer music is an important part of her life as she has to be inspired and connect with music. She has to have a good knowledge and understanding of different genres and styles of music so she can apply that knowledge to her dance works. Because of this she has to listen to a wide range of music but her favorite genre is deffinatly the most 'pop'ular music tyed with r&b. Abbey is a fun, daring and adventurous girl who loves socialising with her friends whenever she can, she enjoys going to partys with loud music and shopping the latest trends. As a dancer she also has an individual look about her, she dosent follow the crowd of being 'indie' but she wears what she wants. Abbey is a brilliant example for a target audience member for my magazine as popular music is a big role in her life, but so is her individual appearance and expressing herself which is what my music magazine, tyed with arts and fashion is all about.

RESEARCH - COLOUR PALETTES

Media Rihanna Colour Pallette

For rihannas debut album LOUD her videos, appearance and fashion all seemed to revolve around the Red colour that she dramaticly dyed her hair. The red is so bold and stands out, although it is a contrasting colour which dosent go with everything its brave which is what Rihanna is all about. Because of this new image change colours used to promote her album were suttle so the colours dont over power the artist. I like how all throughout her promotion of her album she seems to have stuck to a colour pallete of beiges, natural colours. I think this is a good promotion idea and is something i think i will look into for my artist as rihanna is now known for daring red hair which has sent a spiral craze of red hair fashion to everyone which is also interesting as my magazine will be featuring elements of fashion and art in it too.

MAGAZINE NAME IN FONTS

My magazine is called forward because its edgy but simple. Forward is to represent the moving on of music, fashion, art and the future. I want my title to be simple and clear so its easy to see and read. Also the stereotype of women being neat and tidy is shown in the text as i want the text to be classy and neat so it is appealing to look at which attract my target women of teenagers to young adults mainly women.

This is the font i am going to use on my cover for my title. I like the simplicity of the font and how it is effectibe because it is in capitals which stand out. Its neat and not messy or with a handwritten element to it which would be good for rock/indie but is good for my genre of pop and mainstreem which is trageted at 15-17 year old females.

FONTS

The fonts above I have found I would like to use on my magazine because they are catchy and stand out. They are bold, simple but effective and creative. I believe that these fonts will be a good match for the style of magazine i want to create. These fonts are slightly more femanine as they arent as edgey as usual fonts used in rock or indie magazines but more classic but still original for the pop genre my magazine will be.

Billboard is now read in more than 100 countries around the world. Billboard.com attracts more than 2.5 million unique visitors each month. The Billboard Music Awards is one of television's most popular annual entertainment events.

The media kit i found for Billboard magazine which is most realted to the style and genre my magazine will be based on wasnt that good. There was a few facts and figures about the type of person who buys billboard magazine resulting in knowing the average age is 47, college graduated and resonabily wealthy. Also in the media pack is advertising rules, terms and conditions and the specifications for it. This is usefull for people who want to advertise in the magazine. Also i can relate this to VOUGE or ELLA as also of their magazine is with advertisment for designers as my magazine will be fashion/art based too.

BILLBOARD MAGAZINE RESEARCH

Billboard is a weekly American magazine devoted to the music industry, and is one of the oldest trade magazines in the world. It maintains several internationally recognized music charts that track the most popular songs and albums in various categories on a weekly basis.  Billboard was founded in Cincinnati on November 1, 1894, by William h. Donaldson and James Hennegan. Originally titled Billboard Advertising it was a trade paper for the bill posting industry, hence the magazine's name. Within a few years of its founding, it began to carry news of outdoor amusements, a major consumer of billboard space. Eventually Billboard became the paper of record for circuses, carnivals, amusement parks, fairs, vaudeville, minstrels, whale shows and other live entertainment. The magazine began coverage of motion pictures in 1909 and of radio in the 1920s.
With the development of the jukebox industry during the 1930s, The Billboard began publishing music charts. Originally, there were only three genre-specific charts: Pop, Rhythm & Blues, and Country & Western. In the 1950s it introduced a section covering the television industry, including ratings charts for programs. It continued to carry news of fairs, carnivals, theme parks and other outdoor entertainments until 1961 when these departments were spun off into a new weekly magazine called Amusement Business. By this time the television coverage had also been moved to another publication. At the start of 1961, The Billboard was renamed Billboard Music Week. The publication was now devoted almost entirely to the music industry, with some coverage of coin-operated vending and entertainment machines on its jukebox pages. The title was changed to simply Billboard at the start of 1963. In 2005, the magazine and its web sites were repositioned to provide coverage of all forms of digital and mobile entertainment.

Billboard is the world's most influential music media brand reaching key executives and tastemakers in and around the music business through Billboard Magazine, Billboard.biz, Billboard Conferences,  Billboard Bulletin, and other targeted newsletters, and millions of music fans through Billboard.com and Billboard Events. The Billboard brand is built on its exclusive charts and unrivaled reporting on the latest news, issues and trends across all genres of music. Billboard receives hundreds of millions of brand impressions daily through many strategic relationships with major companies across various industries.  These relationships leverage Billboard's brand recognition, proprietary chart data and information resources to develop products, live events and print, television, radio, digital and mobile platforms.  In addition to North America, Billboard operates businesses in Brazil, Greece, Japan, Korea and Russia.

Billboard is owned by Prometheus Global Media, a diversified company with leading assets in the media and entertainment arenas, including: Music (Billboard and its related conferences and events, including The Billboard Latin Music Awards), Entertainment (The Hollywood Reporter, Backstage, ShowEast, Cineasia, and CineEurope); and Advertising & Marketing (Adweek, Adweek Conferences and The CLIO Awards).

PRELIMINARY TASK

PRELIMINARY TASK EVALUATION

How does your preliminary work represent particular social groups?
My Prelim represents the social group of students as this is a college magazine. It is a serious but exciting magazine for students to know what is going on around the school featuing the main issues being raised in that month. My front page model is Danny Medland who is dressed 'fashionable' and who looks good for a teenage boy. He is also focusing on the work in his work folder showing he is dedicated to learning and in his own time which reflects on the main topic of revising for January exams which is also relevant for the student audience.

Who would be the intended audience for your product?
The intended audience for my product is students at Lutterworth College from year 10 to 16+.

How did you attract/ address your audience?
I attracted/adressed my audience by putting a well dressed teenage student boy on the front - this will appeal to my audience as he is a similar age group to them with similar style which will make people see similaraties making them drawn to the magazine. I used 'cool' and interesting fonts and colours which makes the magazine appealing and fun which is needed for a student magazine and for their age group.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Image DetailThings I have learnt about technologies from the process of construcing my product are learning about The Rule of Third and The golden spiral when taking photographs. (Main subjects should lie on one of the four lines or intersections). Also how to set up space and equipment needed for taking a good photo and that for a good portrait pose the basic stand is Body at 45degrees and Head at 90degrees. I also refreshed my knowledge on photoshop and how to edit pictures and texts with layers.
